Lynette Charters mixed media, conceptual art
Each Arts Walk, an artist is selected to create an original work for the event cover. This spring features artist Lynette Charters with Missing Josephine Corliss Preston in mixed media. The piece is part a collection titled The Matilda Effect Series, inspired by 1800's columnist & suffragist, Matilda Jocelyn Gage. "She made it her job to write a newspaper column to highlight women's achievements so that we didn't forget. So, I'm picking up the torch."

In celebration of Olympia’s local heritage, Lynette chose Josephine Corliss Preston, an educator and advocate for fair housing, and first woman elected to Washington state office.Watch our in-studio interview with Lynette and gain insight into her creative process and learn more about the cover piece, Missing Josephine Corliss Preston in this exclusive behind-the-scenes look.
