The somatic meets the transcendental in D’Andrea’s painstakingly constructed visual works. Vascular continuity flows between organic and spiritual forms by way of capillaries carrying ink, sap and blood. From the hard, saturnine clay of raw matter awaken phantasms cloaked in the otherworld. In this kinetic paradigm, the viewer embarks on a dynamic journey into the primordial wellspring that pours into the boundless seas. The traveler is nourished and imperiled in equal measure, following the glittering ocular current from the underworld to the heavens, through myriad lush intricacies, guided by gossamer elementals. D’Andrea is in this sense, both magician and navigator, evoking visions, charting the path to Gnosis with a deftly wielded pen. ~ B. Vierling
